The Thinkers Archive
A frequently updated page featuring quotes about happiness, contentment, purpose, business and living a life well lived.
Much of what is shared here is also available on my Instagram Account
#1 Be a doer
Platitudes and quotes from the great philosophers and thinkers will inspire.
But without discipline and commitment – you will not achieve meaningful results.
As Leonardo Da Vinci said…
“It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.”
When it comes to a life well lived – being a doer beats being a thinker!
All the positive thinking in the world will count for little with out implementation.
#2 Feel Comfortable Saying No
If you want to get more of the important things done – you need to say NO more often.
Especially to energy sapping acquaintances…
Most of us, especially in friendships, hate to offend.
But the truth is that true friends understand and respect your position and priorities.
#3 Turn off the TV
I love this pearl of wisdom from Gavin Nascimento
“Rebellion is not what most people think it is, rebellion is when you turn off the TV [ iphone / socialmedia ] and start educating yourself and thinking for yourself.”
#4 Deal with the stuff going on in your Heart and your Head
You can eat the kale… Drink the alkaline water…. Take the supplements… Do the yoga… Hit the gym. …but if you don’t deal with the stuff going on in your heart and your head, you’re still just as unhealthy ~ Daniel Rengering
#5 Simplifying your life is about having more…
#6 More compassion, less judgment
Live a good life. More smiling, less worrying. More compassion, less judgment. More blessed, less stressed. More love, less hate. ―
#7 Blessed are the gypsies
Blessed are the gypsies. The makers of music, artists, writers, dreamers of dreams, wanderers and vagabonds, children and misfits: for they teach us to see the world through beautiful eyes.
#8 Stop Complaining
Your complaints, your drama, your victim mentality, your whining, your blaming, and all of your excuses have NEVER gotten you even a single step closer to your goals or dreams. Let go of your nonsense. Let go of the delusion that you DESERVE better and go EARN it! Today is a new day! ~
#9 Successful entrepreneurs make every second count
#10 Take responsibility for your actions
If a person doesn’t want to take responsibility for their actions, they may try to blame others. Don’t accept blame or try to fix things when you’ve done nothing wrong. They need to learn that if they want different outcomes, they will have to make different choices. If you fix things for them, it deprives them from learning to take responsibility and their actions will repeat with different circumstances. You’ll then be the first they’ll blame or try to have fix things for them because you did before. That can lead to a very destructive cycle which will only stop when you do ~ Doe Zantamata
#11 Accept responsibility
Accept responsibility for your actions. Be accountable for your results. Take ownership for your mistakes
#12 The best answer to anger is silence
The origin of this quote is unclear. It has been attributed to Marcus Aurelius, Mahatma Gandhi and being a German Proverb.
No matter the origin – this is one life tip that I apply daily!
#13 The more we value things outside our control, the less control we have
#14 Every conversation matters
Every conversation matters – even the briefest. Every single one is a chance to make your life – and the life of others – better or worse. We cannot always control the topic of our conversations. Nor the outcomes. But we can control how we enter into them. So make it a habit to say something hopeful or complimentary or sympathetic before saying anything else. — Mark Ford
#15 People are more emotional than logical
“People are more emotional than logical, and tend to over-react to short-term results. They give up and sell low when times are bad and buy too high when times are good – wise people stick with sound fundamentals through the ups and downs, while flighty people react emotionally to how things feel, jumping into things when they’re hot and abandoning them while they’re not.” – Ray Dalio
#16 Be a good listener
Be a good listener. This may be the best advice I’ve ever gotten about persuasion. Before you tell someone what you think, ask him what he thinks. Then restate what you heard as precisely as you can. It makes a difference when I want to get someone to understand my point of view. – Mark Ford
#17 Walk Away from Negative People
Unless you are being paid to work with them or you have a charitable calling – walk away from negative, low energy people.
Walk away from people who put you down. Walk away from fights that will never be resolved. Walk away from trying to please people who will never see your worth. The more you walk away from things that poison your soul, the healthier you will be.
